The villas leave you very isolated from the rest of the hotel and the outside baths and showers are not as appealing as they sound. It would of course be possible for some people to love both of these aspects! Some parts of the rooms were a bit tired looking. If you are old, infirm or like to have a few drinks at night beware the stepping stone entrances to the villas. The main pool and general service is good. The hotel provides a shuttle to Hua Hin (10 mins) but even in low season this fills up quickly. The local taxis are expensive by Thai standards (3/400 baht) so a meal in Hua Hin quickly trebles in cost. You can get eggs and rice right outside for 25 baht of course. The AKA Resort certainly delivered. The resort opened in April 2006 and is in immaculate condition. I had a pool villa with spa which had it own lap pool. Room, facilities, food and service were all first class. Only disappointment was to find I needed transport (shuttle bus) to go anywhere from the resort. This wasn t a real problem but I had thought from the website that the beach was close. In summary a top resort for a real chill out . The food in the restaurant is the best, if a little pricey. We had a wonderful time at the AKA the only thing is that it is a little way out of town (shuttle bus runs every hour but you have to order it and let them know what time you want to come back.)If you are looking for a quiet holiday away from all the hustle and bustle I would reccommend the AKA" |
